The PSS program offers lifelong visiting and advocacy for the time that parents become frail or have passed away. Whether they live in a group home, with a host family, or in their own home, the PSS provides an independent person to oversee their care and welfare as well as offer companionship and support.
PSS visitors are trained to look out for the big and small issues affecting your family member’s life. They often form a close connection with the person they visit, sharing in their interests, enjoying their company, and over time, becoming a trusted and valued friend and advocate.
A PSS gives your family member a voice – a voice of a trusted advocate who support them to speak out if things are not right in the same way that you would. When someone is heavily reliant on paid support workers for their care, or is living alone, a trusted independent visitor can make a very real difference in their life.
